To support the development of the maritime sector in Latvia and the growth of new specialists, SIA LSC, in cooperation with the Latvian Maritime Academy and the Latvian Maritime Education and Research Development Fund, will provide scholarships of EUR 60 thousand to maritime students.   It is planned that the number of scholarship amount will be doubled this year and to provide 16 students. The crew of the LSC fleet Elandra Corallo carried out a rescue operation, rescuing eight Brazilian fishermen from a sinking fishing boat. On Sunday morning, September 15, 2019, the crew of the Elandra Corallo, a Latvian-based technical management company “LSC”  observed the sinking fishing boat with people waiving to signal while the vessel approaching the coast of Brazil. Noticing what was happening, the ship's captain Andrei Taranenko decided to immediately begin the rescue operation. “LSC” fleet vessel “Asphalt Splendor”, despite the adverse weather conditions and great difficulties, rescued the Scottish rower who had set off on a journey across the ocean from New York to Scotland in the homemade boat.
