On Thursday, November 9, Mr. Vilis and Mrs. Marta Vītols, founders of the “Vītolu fonds” foundation, invited the foundation’s donors to a gratitude luncheon and to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the foundation.
During this event, gratitude diplomas signed by Minister of Education and Science Kārlis Šadurskis were presented for contributions to knowledge-based society, science and investments for the good of the country. Latvian Shipping Company also received a diploma of gratitude.
After the luncheon, participants and representatives of the “Vītolu fonds” foundation made their way to the Honorary Room inside the Freedom Monument to sign the book of honour.
For the third year, Latvian Shipping Company, in cooperation with the “Vītolu fonds” foundation, has granted maritime students competitive scholarships to support future seafarers and promote marine education in Latvia.
The “Vītolu fonds” foundation is an organiszation providing scholarships to help hard-working, talented young people with financial need study at universities in Latvia.
