Already for the fourth year in a row, “LSC” SIA announces the application for a scholarship competition for the future seafarers. The applications can be submitted from June 29 until July 13 by all upcoming seafarers, who have undergone seafaring internship in one of the ships in the technical management of LSC.
Aim of the scholarship is to support future seafarers and promote marine education in Latvia. This year scholarship will be granted to six upcoming seafarers with a two kind of support – scholarship and gold scholarship. Scholarship will be in the amount of up to 300 euros a month but gold scholarship – up to 350 euros.
“As a leader of Latvian maritime industry we consider our obligation to provide contribution to the education of next generation and promote interest of young people about this field of economy that holds a great historical significance to our country,” comments Roberts Kirkup, Chairman of the Board of “LSC” SIA.
This year company has introduced a novelty – gold scholarship. With the help of this scholarship company will further support and motivate our outstanding students who have proved themselves as young professionals during the internship on the ships of “LSC” SIA fleet, as well as achieved very good educational results.
“Previous year’s show that the support we are providing helps young people to focus more on their studies and this also reflects on their successful professional abilities,” tells Ilze Stangaine, LSC HR/PR Manager.
It should be noted that every year scholarships are granted to six students throughout the period of 15 months and “Vītolu Fonds” supports granting of scholarships.
The scholarship could be applied to by the students of Latvian higher education establishments and colleges who are studying in the accredited programs full-time as regular students or by correspondence and majoring as a master, mechanic or electrical engineer. Students undergoing the final study year with the seafaring experience of not less than four months can apply for the scholarship. They must have successfully undergone and defended seafaring internship and have study results of 7 points and higher.
Applicants have to submit applications for LSC scholarships from June 29 to July 13.
